2024-2025 Policies & Guidelines

At Visions Dance Studio we believe that dance is for everybody and every body, and that every dancer matters. We are a fun, safe, inclusive environment where all are welcome.

We are a technique- and performance-based studio. We focus on proper technique, theory, and traditions, and strive to offer multiple, non-competitive performance opportunities each year.

Anti-bullying policy

Visions dancers, families, and staff will treat others with respect, and will be treated with respect, at all times. Visions will not tolerate bullying in any form; verbal, physical, emotional, social or otherwise. We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to dismiss students and/or families from the studio due to harmful or otherwise unacceptable behavior including, but not limited to, bullying as defined above toward students, teachers and class assistants, or other Visions community members.

Payment

  • Tuition is billed in five bi-monthly installments in September, November, January, March, and May.

  • Payments are due on the 1st of the month. A $15.00 late fee will be applied to tuition payments not received by the 15th of the month in which they are due.

  • Payments may be made by cash, check, or major credit card. Visions reserves the right to include a 2.9% convenience fee for payments via credit card to offset the cost of processing. Bounced checks will incur a $35 charge to cover overdraft fees. Thank you for your understanding!

  • Visions offers auto-pay by credit card. See the director for more details and to sign up.

Withdrawal from Classes

Students do not who wish to continue lessons may withdraw from classes without incurring any additional charges, however we are not able to offer refunds on any tuition payments received prior to withdrawal.

Missed Classes (due to illness or other reasons)

Please contact the studio if your student will be absent from class for any reason. We are not able to offer refunds for missed classes. Instead, students are encouraged to make up missed classes whenever possible. Your student's teacher can help identify appropriate classes to take for make ups.

Holiday Closings/Closings due to weather or other incident

Visions is located in the Rush-Henrietta school district and will follow the R-H calendar of holidays (see below) and closings due to inclement weather. If we close unexpectedly for weather-related reasons, we will post a message on our website, Facebook page, and studio voicemail.

Anticipated studio closings for the 2024-2025 school year are as follows:

  • October 31

  • November 28 - 30

  • December 23 - January 4 (Winter Break)

  • February 17 - 22 (February Recess)

  • April 14 - 19 (Spring Break)

  • May 26

In the event of a forced shut-down due to public, health-related, or other emergency, we will communicate details with families via email, as well as post messages on the locations noted above; and make every effort to re-open as soon as it is safe to do so while adhering to all precautionary measures necessary to maintain a safe, healthy environment.

We're sorry, we are not able to offer refunds for days when the studio is closed due to weather or public emergencies.

Recital participation

Participation in our annual performances is encouraged, but not required. We understand that some students may find the most joy in simply learning and practicing technique in class, and prefer not to perform. Students who wish to forgo performances and recitals should communicate that with their teacher as soon as possible in the year and at the latest by January 31st so that group choreography may be planned appropriately. Those dancers will continue to receive the same personal attention as their classmates, and will participate fully in class.

Costumes

Visions is committed to ensuring dance performances are affordable for every family. To that end we will make every effort to choose costumes that are reasonably priced and readily available. A 50% costume deposit may be requested when costumes are ordered. If that is the case, we will communicate that with families as soon as possible.

Class Placements

  • Beginning classes are suitable for students with little to no prior experience and they are invited to enroll at any time throughout the year. Students who enroll after January 31st may be encouraged to consider forgoing the recital performance in their first year, to allow adequate time to learn the basics before performing on stage. These will be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

  • Intermediate 1 & 2 classes are suitable for students with approximately 3-5 years of experience (depending on the individual student's progress and age) and they are invited to enroll in those classes at any time throughout the year. As with Beginners, students who enroll after January 31st may be encouraged to consider foregoing the recital performance in their first year, due to limited time to learn and practice the recital choreography. These will also be addressed on a case-by-case basis.

  • Intermediate 3 / Advanced class placement will be at the discretion of the director, upon consultation with the student's teachers (if they are a current student). Newly enrolled students who wish to join upper level classes may be asked to demonstrate their experience by taking the class as a guest prior to joining the class full-time. This is not an audition, per se, but allows the director to assess their progress and recommend the class level that will allow the student to set challenging, yet attainable goals for their dance year.

Thank you for your partnership in ensuring a successful dance year for every student!
